Dive Team FAQ
NCC Dive FAQ
-
Can my child do both swim and dive teams?
- Absolutely! Children are welcome to join both swim and dive. The swim and dive teams coordinate practice times so that children can attend both practices.
-
Does my child have to come to every practice to be able to dive in the meet?
- No, we understand conflicts come up and things happen. However, divers are encouraged to attend practices when possible.

How can I get involved?
- Volunteers are essential to help a dive meet run smoothly. We will use Swimtopia to sign up to volunteer during dive meets. There is no experience necessary for certain jobs. We are in need of judges and referees, please consider signing up for training to become certified. The main dive page has dates and times. Volunteer shifts are by half, so you can sign up for the shift that works best for your schedule.
-
What is the flow of a dive meet?
- Regular season dive meets take place Sundays beginning at 4 PM. A typical dive meet will start with 12 & Under at 4 pm (13 & older may arrive 10 minutes before their event warm-up). The meet starts with 8 & under (girls → boys) and divers will compete the dives they selected with the coaches on their dive sheet. After the 11-12 age group finishes, an awards ceremony will be held while the 13 & older divers will warm up. Once 12 & Unders receive their ribbons, they are free to leave, however, we encourage you to stay and watch our older divers! During meets, divers may swim in the pool and hang out around the diving well to cheer on their teammates. Please be aware if your event is coming up and be ready to start by the team section.
-
What are dive sheets and when will they be signed?
- Dive sheets are how your child will be registered to dive on Sunday meets and show which dives they will do. We will be completing and signing dive sheets with divers every Thursday during practices.
-
How much experience does my child need to participate on the dive team?
- All you need to join the team is to know how to swim and be willing to jump off the board. Our goal is to teach your child new dives throughout the season! You don’t need a triple backflip or anything of the sort to be a valued member of our team. Part of the fun is learning new skills and being comfortable doing them.
-
Are there private lessons?
- Yes, there are! Please reach out to coaches and discuss their availability/rates via text, email, or after practices.
